NJ Transit Hoboken Rail Yard Resiliency Upgrades

Hoboken, NJ

DMR Construction has been awarded a $39.9 million contract by New Jersey Transit to upgrade critical power systems at the Hoboken Rail Yard—one of the region’s busiest and most important transit hubs.

The project focuses on strengthening infrastructure damaged during Superstorm Sandy, replacing and elevating key electrical components to reduce flood risk and improve long-term reliability. As part of the work, DMR will install new aerial power distribution systems, steel monopoles, and upgraded connections to the Henderson and Depot substations, along with modernizing the Days Yard power network.

All construction will take place within an active rail yard, requiring careful coordination to maintain uninterrupted service for daily commuters. With extensive experience in live transportation environments, DMR will deliver these upgrades safely and efficiently without disrupting operations.

This project marks an important step in reinforcing New Jersey Transit’s resiliency efforts—helping ensure more reliable service and a stronger infrastructure system built for the future.
