Palm Beach County Wastewater Treatment Facility Upgrades

Palm Beach County, FL

DMR Construction has been awarded an $8.38 million contract to complete electrical, controls, and utility upgrades at the Palm Beach County Wastewater Treatment Facility in Palm Beach County.

Serving the region since 1957, the 22-acre facility is a critical part of the county’s utility network. This project will modernize essential systems to support long-term reliability, environmental compliance, and continued population growth.

The scope includes installation of new electrical infrastructure, controls, and utility systems across the site. Key upgrades include a new precast electrical building, a 12,000 kiloampere transformer, and a 500 kilowatt standby generator with on-site fuel storage to ensure uninterrupted operations.

DMR will also implement a new supervisory control and data acquisition system, bringing modern automation and monitoring capabilities to the facility. Additional work includes site lighting, fire alarm systems, piping installation, and broader civil and site improvements.

All construction will take place within a fully operational wastewater treatment plant. The facility must remain online at all times, requiring careful sequencing and tightly coordinated system changeovers within limited shutdown windows. DMR’s experience with live infrastructure environments allows the team to execute this work safely while maintaining continuous service.

This project strengthens critical public infrastructure and supports the long-term performance of an essential utility system, reinforcing DMR Construction’s expertise in delivering complex, mission-critical upgrades.
