DMR Construction Awarded $108M Contract for New AirTrain Maintenance Facility at Newark Liberty International Airport

Newark, NJ

DMR Construction has been awarded a $108 million contract - the largest in the company's history — for the construction of the Maintenance Control Facility at Newark Liberty International Airport.  The award is part of the Port Authority's multi-billion-dollar AirTrain Replacement Program, one of the most significant transit infrastructure investments in the region in decades.

This project will replace the existing AirTrain system with a fully modernized, automated transit system designed to improve airport connectivity and meet growing passenger demand. The Maintenance Control Facility will serve as the operational command center for the entire new system — responsible for monitoring, dispatching, and maintaining AirTrain vehicles serving millions of passengers each year.

Located just north of the existing rail station, the facility will include a central control complex, maintenance and repair areas, administrative offices, and full supporting infrastructure.  Key features include three maintenance tracks, overhead cranes, multi-level platforms, a wash bay, and specialized servicing equipment, along with an on-site substation, emergency generator, and employee parking.

DMR is serving as General Contractor on the project, bringing its full capabilities to bear on one of the most technically complex assignments in the company's 30+ year history.  Delivering within the operational and safety demands of an active airport requires the kind of precision, coordination, and experience that defines DMR's approach to large-scale infrastructure work.

This award marks a defining milestone for DMR Construction and further establishes the firm as a leading contractor for major public transportation infrastructure in the New York-New Jersey region.
